The City has been contacted by residents to evaluate traffic safety concerns and drive-through traffic along State Line Road from 84th Terrace to 86th Terrace. We've retained traffic engineering professionals to evaluate these concerns and develop options to address the concerns. Listed below and on the following page are two options the City is considering.
OPTION 1: Keep the traffic signal at 85th Terrace with no restriction of movement, same as it is today. Extend the median at 86th Terrace to restrict left turns at 86th Terrace.
Drivers turning left from State Line Road at 85th Terrace will get a protected left-turn green arrow while all other traffic is stopped. Left turns from State Line Road at 85th Terrace will not be allowed without a green arrow. Left turns to and from 86th Terrace would be restricted by a median along State Line Road.
This option reduces crash risk and improves safety. However, it may increase neighborhood traffic on 85th Terrace to and from 86th Terrace. It could also result in increased waiting time at 85th Terrace.
